I knew I would make life long friends when I went to China to teach English, but I didn’t know how quickly it would happen. The first weekend I was there I met both Jay and Lindsey. The rest of the school year we went out all over Shanghai and just had an absolute blast of a year. I had a great connection with both of them so at times it would only be two of us hanging out and it was just as fun. Near the end of the school year they asked me if I would love to come hang out in Austin, Texas for a week or so that summer and photograph their wedding. They had myself and another friend of theirs shoot it for them. It definitely took some pressure off with it being my first one and all. The wedding was closer to Buda, Texas, where they are from, which is just down the road from Austin. They rented a house and had the ceremony and party there on the property. It was quite the party with a couple of live bands, a lot of food and many drinks, plenty of laughs, and the party went until almost sunrise. It was the first wedding I ever captured and it meant a lot that they trusted me to capture it for them without having any experience.
