This being included in coverage from this past summer is as much of a surprise to me as it is to you reading. After Newport Folk it came to light that I knew who to contact for a pass, thanks Meghan, and I had a free place to stay, big time thanks to Jillian and her boyfriend Will. It was a matter of how much would the plane ticket cost. With the go ahead from Lauren, while at a concert I bought a round trip ticket 10 days before hand and just had a blast in Golden Gate Park. While I didn't see as many bands as I do at a regular festival, it was amazing. This was also my first taste of West Coast live music and boy did it not disappoint. I'm still pinching myself that this took place. Also for the record this is as much a food and wine festival as it is a music festival. It's truly astounding. If you can make it out to this festival next year, just do it. Enjoy the highlights.
I'm lucky to know some great people who help take care of the press at festivals and shows in general and Big Hassle Media are among the best in the business. I was planning on getting married the weekend before Bonnaroo, which happened and was glorious, and it was never for certain I was going to be able to go cover the festival, but they gave me the ok, as did my new wife, and down I went to the farm. It was an interesting year with the introduction of an EDM-only stage, but attendance was up from 2016 and the weather was perfect. Here are a bunch of highlights from another great Bonnaroo
Memorial Day weekend is my favorite weekend of the year for one reason, it signals the beginning of music festival season. The last three years this has meant being in Boston for the Boston Calling Music Festival and this year was no different. The team at 44 Communications and Crash Line Productions know how to treat the press right, which is why it's always a wonderful gathering of friends each year. The photographers I get the privilege of sharing the weekend with is always fantastic and brings a smile to my face knowing everyone who is going to be there. The move from City Hall Plaza to Harvard's Athletic Complex it took a day to get used to the new grounds, but the festival went off without a hitch. Here are some highlights of the weekend.
