So the end of January was rough with a lot of things happening in the family that I won't go into here, but to say I was happy to get out of the month would be an understatement. The Wood Brothers and The Stray Birds played a great show at The Egg. I had never seen The Stray Birds before and their harmonies were just perfection. The Wood Brothers did what they do best. I've never seen a show by them that hasn't produced a smile on my face. I wasn't in the right frame of mind for the show, but I still had that smile after. Turkuaz ended the month the next night with an absolutely stunning two hour set. My thoughts on the show are over here on Jambase: Turkuaz at Cohoes Music Hall, check it out and enjoy.
February started with a basement show in Albany that just absolutely rocked and showed the power of being in a small space with some loud music. Geoff Gordon, an all-star who's who of the Albany DIY scene sounded great in their first show together. Comfy then took the stage and charmed the audience with their indie rock. The Adventures of the Silver Spacemen literally destroyed a guitar cable on stage because they were playing so hard. The energy was amazing and I cannot wait to see them again. Oceanator closed the night out with a set of beautiful songs that had the room listening intently. Super Dark Monday was show two of the month and had two duos with opposite sounds, but as usual just somehow fit on a bill together. Swampcandy brought the raw unfiltered blues, while Blue Ranger sang the crowd quiet folk songs. It was a glorious evening Enjoy some photos from those shows!
