There is a glorious thing happening in Upstate New York and it is the Super Dark Collective. They put on shows in Saratoga at One Caroline Street every Monday and in Troy at River Street Pub every Thursday. Sometimes they put things on during other days of the week, but these are the main two to hit up The music is always different and ranges from local bands of all genres to bands from all over the world. Some nights there is punk rock, avant-garde, and metal sharing a bill and the audience is there to just discover. It has become one of the best things in the area.
Unfortunately I have been under the weather for most of the month and haven't seen as much as I would have liked to. Snow has also caused some cancellations, which is a bummer, but it's the Northeast, so it's going to happen. If you haven't checked out either of the series each week please make it your business to do so. Here are some photos from the January shows I was able to attend. January 15th: Super Dark Monday at One Caroline Street featuring Jockimo Brown, Kyle & The Pity Party, and Self & Other. January 25: Super Dark Thursday at River Street Pub featuring Machete, Mystery Girl, and The Abyssmals.
